Domaine Jerome Fornerot
We have been looking for a good producer from Saint-Aubin for some time, but so have many importers, and the top names of the village, the likes of Hubert Lamy, Pierre Yves Colin Morey, Joseph and Marc Colin have been taken up long ago. Their prices are all to pot.
But finally, we think we have found a bit of a hidden gem, and today we are excited to introduce a new winemaker to the Caveau family ~ Jérôme Fornerot.
This search for a Saint-Aubin producer has taken years actually, and was limited by our need to find one who had a decent chunk of the best crus, specifically En Remilly and Dents de Chien. Check the map, these St Aubin vineyards have illustrious neighbors. They are on great soil, and they’re high up with great south and south-eastern exposure. Jérôme has both.
What Jérôme does not have is youth or 'flash.' He farms his domaine and makes his wines traditionally. His winery is spread between buildings in the village, the result of succeeding inheritances. He has his loyal customers and little changes in his world, even the climate seems to have left him alone. But his wines are as they should be—poised, clean, lively and correct examples of increasingly desirable terroir.
We are happy to welcome the Caveau family to Jérôme Fornerot and he to them!
