A Pastry tour of Paris...
If it seems like we’ve been doing nothing but eating since we got here - that is pretty much correct. We’ve also been walking a ton, and running every morning for a good 10K or more out-and-back along the canal (occasionally being terrorized and admonished by cyclists whizzing past us - even on the paths that are designated “priority to pedestrians”. In typical French fashion, the mentality is - “Yes, I understand the rules - but they do not apply to ME”! Once one understands that, everything here start to make more sense.
I arrived here with a mission, to dive into all of the top patisseries I’ve been following on Instagram. So far I’ve tucked into some amazing stuff at The French Bastards, Yann Couvreur, Cyril Lignac, Pierre Hermé, and the Fou de Patisserie boutique. I haven’t been disappointed anywhere, but would have to pick The Bastards and Couvreur as overall favorites so far. We’ll see how they stack up to my go-to guys in Lyon - Bernachon and Sébastian Bouillet. We head to Lyon on Friday, and will settle in to our new Caveau HQ there for the remainder of the year.
More Pics and updates as we wrap up our Paris visit and head south. And remember, it’s all about the BUTTER!
